Finally finished the dreaded frame!

Dreaded frame done... onward to the next complicated frame! I can only show a partial preview, because, you know, spoilers!


So yes, the middle is annoyingly blurred. Somehow, I also made this image too big, so part of it is cropped out. And one part (not important) is hidden behind the text box >_<! But at least the important part is on screen. 

I already planned to create a (hardcover?) book of the VN as well, so you can see all the lovely details that get hidden in the game itself. 

No, the game is not forgotten, nor cancelled. It just goes super slow because I am a one-woman-show and don't have much time to work on it. Perhaps an hour a week? Or less? I thought I would have more time when I would have finished the Pen-i webcomics, but life decided otherwise. 

It's partly because I also started crafts-streaming: https://www.twitch.tv/kittyocean . And the interesting streams will come on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/kittyocean. I already upload all my weekly webcomic-streams over there, though they usually appear about half a year after I made the comic. If you want (free) previews, follow me on Twitch. If you miss it, you'll have to wait half a year :)

  • Forever Young Eternity 5 - Dutch version (currently my edited version is being edited by my editor)
  • Forever Young Eternity 6 - Both English and Dutch versions, art included (working on the cover)
  • Forever Young Eternity 7 - same as book 6, both languages, art and text
  • Visual Novel episode 001, including a book-version - You are here! Many frames left to be drawn, but human-interaction and faces are getting closer! Would be amazing if it was finished around the publication of book 7.
  • Working on 3D-printing my art (yes, you are reading that right! Just keep an eye on my Twitch since I also use it to keep an eye on my 3D-printer)
  • Moving my rented studio to my home (had to give up my studio :( )
  • Creating miniature books of my novels

Another little update

  Today I finished one of the earlier scenes, where you will have a little choice: will you see yourself, or not? Unfortunately, there is no mirror, so all you can see is are bits of your hair.  One of the choices leads to a somewhat animation (stop-motion-like), while the other option skips it as a whole.  I know it's not much of a story-changing choice, but like said before, this is a static visual novel. The ending is fixed, you'll just get little bits of different text or scenes depending on your choice.  Later in the story I reuse the hair, so it's not like you completely miss out. This Dev Diary will hold spoilers, so if you want to be surprised, you may wish to keep that in mind. Should I put up a spoiler tag? Because, honestly, everything could be considered a spoiler at this point...

Working on the frame

I finally finished Pen-i Comic Volume 5 and my 5th Novel (in English), which means more Visual Novel-time!  Sure, I still have to do the Dutch version, but at least the art is done! With this Visual Novel, the art is my main focus for now, because the story is prettymuch done and since it's a static story (little interaction), there is not much complicated coding (yet?). And well, I am a one-woman-show, so I can only do one thing at a time.  At least I am learning a lot about backgrounds. It's a shame I will never be able to re-use these images, because they are so specific. But considering the amount of work, I will probably make a hardcover-edition/book of all the art. So I'll make a physical version of my digital Visual Novel... But first, we need to finish this frame!

Little update

Due to paid work, the upcoming release of my 4th novel (Dutch version), my 'Anthology' (comic and few short stories), and a heatwave which makes it unbearable to work in my 'office' for long, I haven't been able to do much for the visual novel.  I finally was able to do something again: - I tried creating a new menu-item in the main menu. While I managed to add the text field, I did not manage to create a link or let it jump to a certain page. So this means 'Credits' will remain in the story-menu you get when starting the game (unless I will find out how to change that one day) - I mixed up scenes in my head. I thought I had to draw a tree now, while I actually had to draw arms. Oh well, the tree was needed anyway. This scene is unfinished; it needs more art. Found out how to layer art, which is cool. - I also fixed the galaxy-background, fixing the proportions between moons and planet.
