Keeping a bit a secret...

 Posting everything might be spoilerish! And you do have to keep something to look forward too!

I finished my Tree-scene! Next up is the Flower-scene, which has a background-change. So I need to create:

- a new background

- a flower

- a hand touching the flower

- (I can reuse an image from the Tree-scene for the observing-her-own-hand-part)

- create something as a little extra. It would be too early in the day for a butterfly or a bee. I don't want to add a mouse because the mouse is in the tree-scene. Still thinking.

- perhaps I can show some hair on the ground.

 

After the Flower-scene, we'll get to the big Home-in-the-woods scene. This scene includes:

- seeing a house (new background)

- entering a house (new background)

- seeing the drama inside (lotsa things I never drew before, also new background)

- and... finding a mirror! 


Yes, there are still plenty of things to do, but we're doing one scene at a time!

Another little update

  Today I finished one of the earlier scenes, where you will have a little choice: will you see yourself, or not? Unfortunately, there is no mirror, so all you can see is are bits of your hair.  One of the choices leads to a somewhat animation (stop-motion-like), while the other option skips it as a whole.  I know it's not much of a story-changing choice, but like said before, this is a static visual novel. The ending is fixed, you'll just get little bits of different text or scenes depending on your choice.  Later in the story I reuse the hair, so it's not like you completely miss out. This Dev Diary will hold spoilers, so if you want to be surprised, you may wish to keep that in mind. Should I put up a spoiler tag? Because, honestly, everything could be considered a spoiler at this point...

Working on the frame

I finally finished Pen-i Comic Volume 5 and my 5th Novel (in English), which means more Visual Novel-time!  Sure, I still have to do the Dutch version, but at least the art is done! With this Visual Novel, the art is my main focus for now, because the story is prettymuch done and since it's a static story (little interaction), there is not much complicated coding (yet?). And well, I am a one-woman-show, so I can only do one thing at a time.  At least I am learning a lot about backgrounds. It's a shame I will never be able to re-use these images, because they are so specific. But considering the amount of work, I will probably make a hardcover-edition/book of all the art. So I'll make a physical version of my digital Visual Novel... But first, we need to finish this frame!

Little update

Due to paid work, the upcoming release of my 4th novel (Dutch version), my 'Anthology' (comic and few short stories), and a heatwave which makes it unbearable to work in my 'office' for long, I haven't been able to do much for the visual novel.  I finally was able to do something again: - I tried creating a new menu-item in the main menu. While I managed to add the text field, I did not manage to create a link or let it jump to a certain page. So this means 'Credits' will remain in the story-menu you get when starting the game (unless I will find out how to change that one day) - I mixed up scenes in my head. I thought I had to draw a tree now, while I actually had to draw arms. Oh well, the tree was needed anyway. This scene is unfinished; it needs more art. Found out how to layer art, which is cool. - I also fixed the galaxy-background, fixing the proportions between moons and planet.
